AUGUST 21. 1992 The folk sounds of Ron Coden and Josh White Jr. will be featured at Adat Shalom Synagogue's Annual Family Picnic, 5:30 p.m., Aug. 30 on the synagogue grounds. This year's picnic will have a Western motif. The event is open to the community and is free for those who make their reservations by Aug. 28. Everyone will receive popcorn and favors. Ron Coden and Josh White Jr. have combined their talents to produce a family musical show. The two folk singers will blend their voices, humor and dramatic talents. A barbecue supper may be purchased from Farmington Meadows Kosher Catering. A variety of food will be on sale. To observe kashrut, only food purchased from the synagogue may be eaten at the picnic. The congregation will open its doors to prospective members from 3 to 5 p.m., Aug. 30, as well as after the picnic. To make reservations by Aug. 28, call the synagogue office, 851-5100. For those without advance reserva- tions, there will be a fee at the door. The picnic is sponsored by the synagogue's Member- Coden and White ship Committee, Social Club and JEFF Committee. Adat Shalom Synagogue will hold a "Shabbat Service Under the Stars” on Fri., Aug. 28, at 8 p.m. The Synagogue's Clergy, assisted by members of the Member- ship Committee and Social Club, will lead the Kabbalat Shabbat service. The community is welcome. Families are encouraged to bring their children. Adat Shalom's regular 6 p.m. ser- vice will be replaced by the "Service Under the Stars" for that evening. B'nai David Elects President, Board Lawrence Traison will be installed as president of Con- gregation B'nai David during Shabbat services Aug. 29. Rabbi Morton Yolkut will con- duct the installation ceremony. Mr. Traison is a trustee of the Hebrew Benevolent Socie- ty and a member of B'nai B'rith, Zionist Organization of America, Jewish Historical Society and Yeshivath Beth Yehudah organizations. He also served as president of B'nai David 1980-82. Other officers to be install- ed include Hadar Granader, Ernest Klein, Michael Traison, vice presidents; Jay Kalisky, treasurer; Steven Dines, secretary. Elected to the board of trustees for the coming year are Jill Berlin, Maurice Bet- man, Alex Blumenberg, Phil Bolton, Helen Brown, Joel Charnow, Saul Chudnow, Harold Dean, Richard Grossman, Henry Horwitz, William Icikson, Maynard Kalef,. Aaron Katzman, Col- eman Klein, Alan Kohn, Jack Lawrence Traison Kraizman.
