Nachas is that special pride you
feel when someone you nurtured
and supported does well.
Nachas is what parents feel when
their child becomes bar or bat
mitzvah after training at
Congregation Beth Shalom
Religious School. As the young
man or woman chants not only
the haftarah but also the maftir —
and often the entire musaf
service — the kvelling in the
sanctuary becomes almost
palpable.
Congregation Beth Shalom
graduates know what it means to
be a Jew in today's world. They
enjoy their Judaism and they're
proud of it.
Talk to our faculty, students and
parents. They'll tell you why...

Crack Down
On Meat Fraud
) Sacramento, California
(JTA) — California is crack-
ing down on kosher meat
fraud.
Gov. Pete Wilson has
signed into law a bill au-
fiaorizing inspectors of the
state's Department of Food
and Agriculture to con-
fiscate meat and poultry
falsely labeled as kosher.
The law applies to six
California counties where
-tthe department has been
operating a kosher meat in-
spection pilot program since
1988.
The program requires
meat and poultry sellers who
advertise their product as
3osher to provide inspectors
with documentary proof of
its source. Violation is a
misdemeanor.
