And so Sam Locriccio, owner of Arriva Italia Restaurant on W. 12 Mile in Warren with John Ausilio and Chef Bill Hall, is back in it again. Not that he really was ever out, singing weekly with fine songstress Sandra Mandella at the popoular east side eatery and putting on various promotions. But this time the former Lorio's songster has done it in an even bigger way . . . Arriva ntertainment and Market- ing Co., headed by Sam with John and Bill, has leased the entire Fox Theatre for the ap- pearance of actor/comedian Dom DeLuise next Friday. Sam will have two packages for the evening . . . Special dinner at Arriva by Corporate Travel under a 1,200-seater tent, bus to the Fox, reserved main floor seats for the Dom DeLuise show, backed by Johnny Trudell's orchestra, plus singer-impressionist Bob Anderson and bus back to Ar- riva, $59 . . . Reserved seating only at the Fox, Aug. 21, will be $29.50. This is Dom's first-ever visit to the local area, and Sam is really doing it up with impos- ing impact . . . The night before (Thursday) will be a black-tie optional shindig under the huge tent starting at 6 p.m. with appetizers, champagne, open bar, Johnny Trudell, Bob Anderson, San- dra Mandella . . . and Dom DeLuise wearing a hidden mike . . . He'll walk around telling how he made the food that afternoon for the dinner people are eating, sit among the audience, and every so often go up on the stage to perform in the very relaxed "off-the-cuff" atmosphere .. . The entire cost of this is $75 . . . It's $100 if you also want a videotape and Dom's hard- cover cookbook, Eat This .. . Its Good For You. Call Arriva, 573-8100, for the Friday night Aug. 21 bus,. dinner and theatre package . . . and Thursday Aug. 20 "Dinner With Dom" party. For Dom DeLuise's perfor- mance only, Friday night Aug. 21 tickets can be gotten from the Fox Theatre box of- fice, 567-6000, or all Ticket- Master outlets, 645-6666. e It all adds up to a whole bunch of fun. 63 YEARS AGO, Bluma and Iry Ellman went on a honeymoon, riding the train to Chicago and taking the Super Chief to California .. . They had been married at the Statler on Washington Boulevard. In two years, their grand climax of 65 marital years will take place and the saying of their vows again . . . "As long as the money holds out," says Bluma, they'll be taking groups on a series of funfests. It was natural that their first one should be on Larry and Judy Coe's Michigan Star Clipper dining and scenic train of Coe Rail . . . And that 63 guests should be invited. As the leaves glistened from rain and lights shone along the Coe Rail route, Bluma and Irv's guests experienced elegant dining and equally polished service. Larry wielded a big urn- brella, bringing folks from their car to the train, most of them Knollwood Country Club members, but it was ap- parent that this evening wasn't going to be dampened in any way by the rain. . Larry; Chris Deward, food and beverage manager; and Bill Foster, kitchen manager; were fully prepared to make sure Bluma and Irv's guests would be fed the best by ex- cellent servers Brenda O'Dell, Nancy Kahn, Bill Sargen and Debra Wandelo- ski, service manager . . . The waitpersons seemed to be go- ing over backwards to please, but Larry says that's how they are all the time. Bluma had a brakeman's light and the hat she bought at Saks that looked like a glamorous version of a railroad cap . . . while Iry wore an engineer's striped topper. You couldn't miss Frank Winton with his red jacket . . . Wife Flora's sparkle was her smile . . . Train was ready to take off but the missing couple just made it in time .. . as Shirley and Nate Fink ar- rived with three minutes to spare . . . Bluma and Irv's barrister son Harry took a lot of video while his wife Peggy shot stills along with Carol Grumet (Bob). "You didn't know that I owned a winery, did you?" asked Bill Wolf as he showed the wine list with its "Featur- ing wines by Newton Winery, Napa" . . . Bill owns Newton Furniture . . . Hard to believe the excellent food was prepared in such a narrow area, and everything made fresh on board . . . served so lavishly by the wonderful Coe Rail tuxedoed waitstaff. Folks danced in the aisles as a gent with keyboard and synthesizer played songs of yesteryear . . . I had a dream come true on this trip .. . always wanted to stop traffic . . . and did when the Michigan Star Clipper train crossed Pontiac Trail and again on its freight route (Larry and Judy also haul some cargo). A lot of wetlands along the way, but Woodpecker Lake the real thing as people ate and made merry on the coe "Hidden Secret" Rail. Bluma and Iry Ellman per- formed a big mitzvah for a lot of the people . . . Many had never been on a train before even though world travelers . . . It was a very pleasant ex- • perience for them. And for Bluma and Irv, it was another eventful evening Planned are several events, not performances. of enjoying people . . . some- thing they do best. CONGRATS . . . to Carol Israel, president of Temple Beth El Sisterhood . . . on her 50th birthday . . . celebrated tomorrow evening at Paparaz- zi restaurant in West Bloom- field's Sugar Tree. For free tickets, call 1-800-487-4777, Ext. 267 . . . Big kudos to Florine Mark-Ross and her gang, who'll have strolling quartets, clowns, face pain- ting for children, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the AWW Bear, banjoist, etc. . . . I like the slogan, "If you can choose what you eat, you're in a posi- tion to help someone who can't." GOOD WAITPERSON Dept. . . . Jody Marcus .. . lunchtime at Jacques Demers of Embassy Suites, Beck and Franklin . . . such a pretty smile and so cordial, efficient and polite.
