Israel Air Force
Continues Raids

Tel Aviv (JTA) — The
Israeli air force continued its
series of sorties against ter-
rorist bases north of the
security zone in southern
Lebanon, targeting installa-
tions of the Popular Front
for the Liberation of
Palestine in the Rashadiyeh
area south of Tyre.
It marked the seventh
aerial assault on Palestinian
and Shi'ite Moslem bases in
recent days.
An Israel Defense Force
spokesman,announced that
all designated targets were
hit by rockets during the 15-
minute raid and that all air-
craft returned safely to base.
The raid came after three
days of hostile land
engagements, during which
six terrorists were killed, in
clashes with IDF and South
Lebanon Army forces in
Lebanon and in the Jordan
Valley.
In one of these clashes, an
SLA soldier was lightly
wounded when fire was
directed at a unit on routine
patrol near the village of
Aramta at the northern edge
of the security zone.
The patrol returned the
fire, and a search of the
scene disclosed the body of
the assailant, who was
dressed in an official
Lebanese Army uniform and
a bullet-proof flak jacket. He
was carrying a Kalachnikov
assault rifle and sabotage
equipment.
SLA sources noted that it
was rare to encounter
soldiers equipped with
Kalachnikov rifles — the
standard weapon of ter-

rorists — or to find them
dressed in a Lebanese army
uniform.
Another SLA unit on pat-
rol last week heard a pair ofig
explosions and subsequently
found the bodies of two te•.-41
rorists killed by the detona-
tion of explosive charges
they had been carrying.
They were apparently plan- 11
ning to plant mines on paths.

used by IDF and SLA,,
patrols.
Three other terrorists were
killed when they were shot
by an IDF patrol near I
Mehola, in the Jordan
Valley. They had swum
across the Jordan River dur-
ing the night, but had not
yet infiltrated across the 1
Israeli border when they en-
countered the IDF unit. Two 4
Israeli soldiers were lightly
wounded in the ensuing""
firelight.
