This is not the first time
Dr. Loeffler, a veterinarian
as well as an immunologist,
has taken action on things
important to him. In 1985,
he and his wife Sandy flew to
Addis Adaba to use his
medical skills to help Ethio-
pian Jews.
Besides Deena, the Loef-
flers have a son, who is
•autistic. Having an autistic
child has significantly
changed Dr. Loeffler's
perspective about life, he
said. "I find I have to focus
on things that are impor-
tant, not just the mundane
things."
