Rabbi Leifman
Speaks At Tribute

Rabbi Morton M. Leifman,
vice president of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America, will address a
tribute dinner on behalf of
Rabbi David A. Nelson Sept.
17 at Congregation Beth
Shalom. The dinner and a
Sept. 18 family Oneg Shabbat
will celebrate Rabbi Nelson's
20th anniversary as spiritual
leader of the congregation.
In addition to his vice
presidency, Rabbi Leifman is
the Seminary's senior consul-
tant for the Foundation for
Conservative Judaism in
Israel, dean of the Cantors
Institute-Seminary College of
Jewish Music and assistant
professor of liturgy.
Ordained at the Seminary,
Rabbi Leifman served a con-
gregation in Montreal prior
to joining the Seminary staff.
He has headed the
Seminary's Israel branch,
was chairman of the Rab-
binical Assembly's Israel
Region, dean of students at
the Seminary's College of
Jewish Studies and directed
the Conservative Movement
Court of Domestic Relations.
He has lectured in Europe,
South America and in the Far
East.

Hebrew Course
At Kol Ami

Temple Kol Ami, in
cooperation with Aish
Hatorah, will offer a crash
course in Hebrew reading.
The course will provide
basic Hebrew reading instruc-
tions, familiarizing the stu-
dent with Hebrew letters,
sentences in worship services.
The course will be held 8-9:30
p.m. Wednesday nights at
Temple Kol Ami, for five
weeks beginning Aug. 26.
