Alterman Chairs
Tribute Dinner
Sharon Alterman will chair
the planning committee for a
tribute dinner Sept. 17 and
Oneg Shabbat Sept. 18 in cel-
ebration of Rabbi David A.
Nelson's 20th anniversary at
Congregation Beth Shalom.
The events also will mark
Rabbi Nelson's 25 years in the
rabbinate.
Mrs. Alterman has been a
member of Beth Shalom for
17 years. She has served as
secretary and vice president
of the board. She also is the
director of the Jewish Com-
munity Archives, a past presi-
dent of JARC and former
board member of Hillel Day
School.

New Youth Director
At Shaarey Zedek
Robert Bloomberg has been
appointed to the position of
youth director at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek.
He will be reponsible for
coordinating the youth ac-
tivities for Shaarey Zedek's
ofarim (grades K-2), chaverim
(grades 3-5), kadima (grades
6-7) and USY (grades 8-12). In
addition, he will coordinate
High Holiday youth services
and weekly youth Shabbat
services.
For the past three years, Mr.
Bloomberg has served as the
United Synagogue Youth ad-
visor. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree
from Oakland University.

monumental - I am here to help.
It's my job to look into such questions as:
What do I do with clothing or furniture?
What support groups are available? Financial
aid? Housing alternatives? Transportation
options? Social Security and Veteran's benefits?
And any other concerns you may have.
