Samuel Anbender Of Detroit Bagel Samuel Anbender, of Southfield, died July 28. He was 71. Mr. Anbender was founder and operator of Detroit Bagel Factory until 1976. He owned and operated Schnelli Deli with three locations in Detroit. He was a member of Morganthau Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Jewish War Veterans and Furniture Club. Ralph Friedman, AJC Chairman New York (JTA) — Ralph Friedman, philanthropist, business executive and former chairman of the ex- ecutive board of the Ameri- can Jewish Committee, died last week of cardiac failure. He was 88. In the years preceding his term as chairman of the AJCommittee, Mr. Fried- man was active in Jewish- Roman Catholic relations As AJCommittee chair- man from 1964 to 1966, Mr. Friedman helped sponsor a Roman Catholic-Jewish research center in Rome to combat prejudice and anti- Semitism in religious teachings around the world. He was also a conserva- tionist and a patron of the American Museum of Natural History.
