Gallery Exhibits
Michigan Artists

O.K. Harris Works of Art
will present an exhibition of
five Michigan artists through
Sept. 19.
Robert Berry will open the
exhibition with paintings in-
volving Captain America and
classical portraiture. Mr.
Berry's paintings are a syn-
thesis of Pop Art and History
Painting — his work
transports an American icon
through art history.
Gilda Snowden's work will
be at the gallery July 28-Aug.
8. Ms. Snowden is an assis-
tant professor at the Center
for Creative Studies (CCS) in
Detroit and gallery director
at the Detroit Repertory
Theater.
Tom Terry will display his
sculpture Aug. 11-22. He will
feature wall sculpture,
primarily in bronze.
Paul Bridge will begin his
two-week show Aug. 25. His
paintings are a bold array of
geometric shapes and
primary colors. A native to
the Detroit area, he
graduated from the Universi-
ty of Michigan School of Art,
and works and resides in Ann
Arbor.
Kiersten Armstrong will
present her often humorous
installations at the gallery
from Sept. 8-19. In the past,
Ms. Armstrong has been com-
missioned as a video techni-
cian and cinematographer,
and she is the coordinator for
the Fine Arts Department at
the Center for Creative
Studies.
O.K. Harris Works of Art is
located at 430 N. Woodward
Ave., Birmingham. Gallery
hours are Tuesday through
Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.;
Mondays by appointment.

Beadworkers
Form Guild

In response to the increas-
ing fascination for beaded
clothing and beaded jewelry,
a non-profit, educational
organization called the Great
Lakes Beadworkers Guild has
been formed.
Membership is open to all
who share an interest and en-
thusiasm for beads and bead-
work. Programs include a
Beaded Embroidery Work-
shop at the July meeting
followed by a Jewelry Techni-
que Workshop in September.
Meetings are held bi-
monthly at the Royal Oak
Public Library. Pre-registra-
tion is required for all work-
shops but not for the
meetings.
For information, call the
Guild, 547-1090.
