Meyers said friends in his
company helped him adjust to
New York. 'I've met a lot of Jew-
ish friends here and they invite
me over for holidays. This city
is always alive and there is so
much to do.
"But I miss my family and
moving back to Detroit is always
a possibility. People are friend-
lier there and I miss green grass
and open spaces. New York
wears on you because everyone
is always rushing and the
crowds get to me."
Down the road, Meyers fore-
sees several possibilities. '1 don't
know where FR end up, but rm
not worried about the future."
he says. "I could be a sports pro-
ducer, work in sports manage-
ment, or do public relations for
a team. If I wasn't working for
the NBA I'd like to work for the
United States Tennis Associa-
tion.
What's his next dream job?
"I'd give anything to work for
the Pistons, but I'd move any-
where if the right job came
along. I just know that 20 years
from now I want to be involved
in sports. I love what rm doing
— this is the happiest time of
my life." ❑

New York Knicks and New Jer-
sey Nets games. Not surpris-
ingly, he says the best part of
his job is being around the play-
ers. "I've met people like Magic,
and Michael Jordan, and I've
been in the Pistons' locker room
to interview players like Isiah,
Joe Dumars and Dennis Rod-
man. At first I was really star-
struck, but you realize they're
just people."
His favorite players are Glen
Rice of the Miami Heat and the
Pistons' Rodman. A fantasy
come true was working at the
All Star game in Orlando, Fla.
"It was a huge media circus," he
recalls. "I had to meet the play-
ers and escort them to inter-
views. The hotel was a mad-
house filled with NBA players,
sports stars and actors. It was
unbelievably exciting."
The worst part of the job is
the sometimes grueling hours.
"In June, we work every day be-
cause we have two weeks to pro-
duce a 60-minute tape of the
NBA championship highlights.
We are under a lot of pressure
and get frazzled from the long
hours. Sometimes we work
around the clock."
