Committee, told the crowd
he is confident the goal can
be reached.
"This building," Mr.
Greenberg said, "serves as a
source of inspiration and joy.
All of us are proud of the role
the JCC has played and are
proud of what the Center
will provide for future ge-
nerations."
Once the expansion and
renovations are completed,
the JPM will more than
double in size and include an
indoor swimming pool, full
health clubs and locker
rooms, a dance and aerobic
studio, and new exercise
equipment.
Many of the community
members on hand for the
groundbreaking and family
fun day were enthusiastic
about the expansion, but the
addition of the pool seems to
be the main attraction.
Huntington Woods resi-
dent Bob Katz said, "We are
very excited they are doing
something for the commun-
ity. We wanted a pool in this
area and now that it is
becoming a reality we just
can't believe it."
"The neighborhood feels
like home but expanding the
facilities will do more to
solidify an already vibrant
neighborhood. With seven
ichildren, I feel the JCC will
be an essential part of the
community. The Center in
West Bloomfield is just too far
to schlepp to," said Oak Park
resident Nacha Leaf.
Construction and renova-
tions are expected to begin
next month and be com-
pleted by the spring. ❑

Court Convicts
Keegstra Again

Toronto (JTA) — A former
high school history teacher
from the town of Eckville,
Alberta, has been convicted
for the second time of wilful-
ly promoting hatred against
Jews.
Justice Arthur Lutz of the
Court of Queen's Bench in
nearby Red Deer fined
James Keegstra $3,000
(Canadian) a few hours after
a jury of eight women and
four men found him guilty.
The verdict was the
culmination of a four-month
retrial in which 17 former
students of Keegstra's
testified that from 1978 to
1982, he taught them that
an evil worldwide Jewish
conspiracy bent on destroy-
ing Christianity existed and
that the Holocaust was a
hoax.
