YAD EVENT
It was a moment Hannan
Lis will never forget. As a
surprise for his installation
as the Jewish Federation's
Young Adult Division presi-
dent, his in-laws, Florine
Mark-Ross and Bill Ross, -
flew in his parents from
Israel.
He was shocked, friends
say. And he was sure to
point out his entire family
during his first speech as
YAD president.
Featured speaker at the
event, which attracted hun-
dreds of young adults, was
Ellen Cannon, a professor
of political science from
Chicago's Roosevelt Univer-
sity.
Spotted in the crowd were:

the B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundations of Metropolitan
Detroit at a cocktail recep-
tion at the the home of Ceci
and Leo Rosen of West
Bloomfield.
Board of Governors Presi-
dent Kurt Singer and
departing Rabbi Louis
Finkelman presented the
keynote speaker Jac-
queline Zeff, dean of liberal
arts at the University of
Michigan-Flint.
The Zuroffs' son, Michael,
and his wife Cheryl,
delighted the audience with
their Hillel experience.
Geri Sills chaired the
event. Some of the com-
mittee members included:
Edith Covensky, Sheri
Katzman, Alex Orenstein,
Eugene Driker, Marilyn
Merdler and James Son-
dheimer.
