New York (JTA) — Rabbi
Marc Tanenbaum, an archi-
tect of modern Christian-
Jewish dialogue, is dead at
age 66.
Though Rabbi Tanenbaum
retired in 1989 from the
American Jewish Com-
mittee, where he worked as
interreligious affairs direc-
tor and director of interna-
tional relations for 30 years,
he continued to speak at
universities and seminaries
until illness forced him to
stop earlier this year.
After his ordination as a
Conservative rabbi in 1950,
Rabbi Tanenbaum briefly
worked in publishing and
public relations.
A measure of his ac-
complishment is that he was
invited to Rome by Pope
John XXIII as an official
observer of the Second Vat-
ican Council, which lasted

Maurice V. Victor, of South-
field, died July 2. He was 78.
Mr. Victor was an attorney
and former partner of Victor
and Covensky. He was a
basketball player for Central
High and Detroit Institute of
Technology and a graduate of
Detroit College of Law. He
was a past president and
founding member of the
Southfield chapter of
American Association of
Retired Persons and the 1992
AARP Man of the Year.
Mr. Victor was a founding
member and past president of
Downtown Fox Lodge of B'nai
B'rith, a member of the
Michigan Bar Association
and a longtime member of
Temple Israel.
He leaves his wife, Lilyan;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Barbara and Dr. Robert
Moretsky of West Bloomfield,
Nancy and Dr. Emanuel
Abrams of Los Angeles,
Calif.; Gwen and Dr. Jerome
Paulson of Alexandria, Va.;
son and daughter-in-law, Ken-
neth and Beverly of Solana
Beach, Calif.; brothers and
sister-in-law, George and
Juanita, Jack, all of West
Bloomfield; eight grand-
children.
