family evening sundowner
;programs 6:30-8 p.m. July 23
and 30 with an optional din-
ner from 5:45-6:30 p.m.
The July 23 evening will
feature "Can a Giant Be
g:!nxish?" — A Jewish fairy
tale evening of creative
dramatics, storytelling and
crafts.
, The July 30 program will
highlight "A Mouse in a
Jewish House." Learn about
. Hebrew counting; taste holi-
day foods. Make and take
home a Jewish bayit (home)
book.
There is a charge for the op-
tional dinner and each ses-
sion. Space is limited, call the

Press, has been awarded the
1992 Samuel Belkin Literary
Award. The book, written by
Ephraim Kanarfogel,
resents a comprehensive
izook at the educational
theories and practices that
were prevalent in the Jewish
communities of northern
France and Germany during
the 12th and 13th centuries.
Harmony and Dissonance, a
publication of Wayne State
University Press, is a
featured selection for June in
the catalog for the Jewish
Book Club. The book, written
by Sidney M. Bolkosky,
chronicles the history of the
Jewish community in Detroit
from 1914 to 1967.

Film Classic
At Fox Theatre

The classic film Casablan-
ca, starring Humphrey
Bogart and Ingrid Bergman,
.011 celebrate its 50th an-
niversary at the Fox Theatre
7:30 p.m. through Aug. 2. A
special afternoon show will be
2 p.m. July 15 and 2 p.m.
matinees on weekends.
All tickets are general ad-
mission. With a movie ticket,
patrons also will receive a
playbill featuring new Fox
Theatre self-guided tour
information.
Prior to all showings,
moviegoers will be entertain-
ed by the music of the grand
Wurlitzer organ.
