Jewish Republicans
Are Disgruntled
Enough is enough.
So says Ruth King, direc-
tor of the new Jewish Elec-
tion Committee.
The longtime Republican
activist says she has had just
about enough of President
George Bush. Now she
wonders how many Jewish
Americans will follow her
lead.
Ms. King, of New York, is
working full time promoting
the Jewish Election Com-
mittee, which she describes
as a 20-plus member group
of "disgruntled friends of
Israel who did support Mr.
Bush in 1988."
So far, no Detroiters have
officially joined the group.

After all, she says, Mr.
Bush and Secretary of State
James Baker simply are not
friends to Israel.
"Reports that the Bush
administration is planning
to make several pre-election
gestures to the new Israeli
government cannot change
the fact that Bush continues
to pursue a pro-Arab line
that is impossible for Jewish
voters to support," Ms. King
says.
