London's famed British Museum is known for its col- lections of archaeology, coins, prints and drawings, as well as its Museum of Mankind. It also holds many Judaica treasures, such as a fifth- century Bible, considered the oldest dated Hebrew manuscript in existence. Art from all countries, periods and styles, is on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum, where one can also view British miniatures and watercolors. This museum houses numerous Jewish ceremonial objects (dating as far back as the 12th century), that are found in different parts of the building. There are kiddush cups, menorahs and Torah mantles. Outstanding ex- amples of craftsmanship, these treasures are a part of British Jewry's culture. For kosher dining in the ci- ty there is Reuben's, at 210 Baker St. It is a few minutes' walk from the Churchill Hotel. Across the street from the hotel, the famous Sel- fridges department store has an attractive and extensive kosher food section, contain- ing both meat and dairy pro- ducts. Among the kosher restaurants in Golders Green there is the long-established Bloom's restaurant. Other dining facilities in this area are the Pizza Pita Restaurant and Dizengoff. N EWS Heat Deaths Investigated Tel Aviv (JTA) — The Israel Defense Force high command has ordered an in- vestigation into the deaths last week of two soldiers taking part in a map-reading exercise under conditions of extreme heat in the southern Negev. The victims, Yaron Ben- David, 19, of Jerusalem and Ofer Efran, 19, of Afula, were pronounced dead on ar- rival May 28 at Josephthal Hospital in Eilat, where they were taken by helicopter from the training area. The cause of death ap- peared to have been heat stroke and dehydration. The men were exposed to temperatures of 108 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade and only 5 percent humidity. Under such conditions, the training exercise should have been called off, the meteorological service said. *Toronto, Best Seats! * Weekends thru Nov. . . . $255* * MACKINAC ISLAND LILAC FESTIVAL * * June 10-12 $225 * * Mission Pt.
