Weisberg Concert
Set For June 3
Daniel Heifetz, violin vir-
tuoso, will be the featured ar-
tist at this year's Peter and
Clara Weisberg Concert 7:30
p.m. June 3 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Accompany-
ing Mr. Heifetz will be
Samuel Sanders.
Mr. Heifetz is a prize win-
ner in both the Moscow
'Ibhaikovsky Competition and
Merriweather-Post Competi-
tion in Washington, D.C.
A faculty member of the
Juilliard School, where he
has taught since 1962, and
the Peabody Conservatory of
Music, Mr. Sanders was
awarded an honorary doc-
torate in 1984 by the St.
Louis Conservatory of Music
for outstanding ac-
complishments as a teacher.
He founded the Cape and
Islands Chamber Music
Festival in Cape Cod, Mass.,
which he now co-directs with
pianist Margo Garrett.
Admission to the concert on
June 3 is free and open to the
public.

World Premiere
The Joffrey Ballet will give
the world premiere of the pas
de deux from a new ballet by
choreographer Peter Pucci
with a new score composed by
popular and rock superstar
Prince Rogers Nelson
(generally known as Prince)
as part of its series of perfor-
mances with the Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra 8 p.m. June
25 and 2 p.m. June 26 at the
Fox Theatre.
The nine-minute work is
made up of two works written
specifically for the Joffrey
Ballet — "The Question of U,'
from the album Graffiti
Bridge, and "It."
