There is a breath of au- thoritarianism hovering around Mr. Perot, a sense that he is a man willing to leap beyond the traditional restrictions of political life — and, possibly, the traditional constitutional protections. • "For the Jewish commun- ity, I think there is strong apprehension about Ross Perot because the commun- ity is concerned about anybody who appears to be an authoritarian personali- ty, who's used to operating that way," said political historian Allan Lichtman, a specialist in presidential prognostication. "I haven't heard any charges of anti- Semitism against Perot. But for Jews, the nature of his campaign and the nature of his personality are going to be very problematic." Curiously, Jews seem more responsive to third- party presidential cam- paigns than most Ameri- cans. In 1980, Rep. John Anderson captured some 20 percent of the Jewish vote, compared to only eight per- cent of the non-Jewish vote. ❑ Immm i BBQ 14 PATIO SALE SAVE NOW ON PATIO FURNITURE FLANDERS•PRIDE GROSFILLEX WOODARD•SAMSONITE LYON SHAW OUR BIGGEST & BEST WORLD WIDE FINANCIAL NEWS Spanish Court Halts Comics Madrid (JTA) — A • Barcelona court has sentenced the publisher of an anti-Semitic comic book to 32 days in jail and fined him $1,000. The publisher, Damian Carulla, was also forbidden ▪ to publish further editions of the comic book "Hitler SS" in Spain. The ruling over- turned an earlier court deci- sion that had absolved Mr. Carulla and his Makoki publishing house of wrong- ., doing. "Hitler SS" takes place in- side a concentration camp and mocks the inmates. It is a Spanish translation of a comic book produced by a French team, writer Gourio and illustrator Vuillemin. The court said it was ob- vious who the people denigrated in the book were and observed that "Jews can find no humor in the disrespect and lack of con- sideration for their feelings • or those of their relatives who lived through the con- centration camps." 6 low Comfortable maintenance free sling or cushion chairs, glasstop table.
