Hillel Students
Plan Service
Fourth-grade students at
Hillel Day School will hold a
Rosh Chodesh service to greet
the new month of Sivan 8:30
a.m. June 2 at Hillel. Parents,
grandparents and friends are
invited to join the children at
this celebration.
In addition to reading from
the Torah, the students will
sing a variety of traditional
and contemporary melodies.
Rabbi Greta Bernard
Brown, a Hillel graduate who
received her rabbinic ordina-
tion earlier this month at the
Jewish Theological Seminary
in New York and is the
daughter of former Hillel Day
School president Anaruth
Bernard and Dr. Henri Ber-
nard, will give the D'var
Torah. The program also will
include a play about the
Sanhedrin of Talmudic times,
directed by Ora Davy. Musical
accompaniment will be pro-
vided by Robin Beth Lash.
Confirmation Set
At Adat Shalom
Fourteen teen-agers of Adat
Shalom Synagogue will
celebrate their confirmation
in a 7:30 p.m. Shabbat service
and program May 29. The
evening also will mark the
culmination of Nosh 'n
Drash, the synagogue's week-
ly high school dinner/study
program, as well as the in-
stallation of the Mat Shalom
1992-93 officers and board of
trustees. The dinner will
begin 6 p.m., followed by the
service.

Elects Officers
Wendy Betel, a senior at
West Bloomfield High School,
has been elected president of
Adat Shalom Synagogue's
Migdal Tzion United Syna-
gogue Youth chapter for
1992-93. Wendy is the
daughter of Ellen and Ed-
ward Betel.
Also serving on the
MTUSY executive board are
vice presidents Jeremy Gor-
don, Aaron Weiss, Caryn
Lubetsky, Mark Blitz;
treasurer Jason Miller;
secretary Robert Yost.
The new officers will be in-
stalled at a ceremony May 31.
