Jewish community volun-
teers will reach out to fellow
Detroiters to involve them in
the Allied Jewish Campaign
during the May 31-June 5
Days of Decision.
Jewish Federation and
agency leaders, synagogue
and temple members and

L, will seek to raise dollars vital
to address the needs of many
recently unemployed people,
seniors and others at risk who
look to Federation's helping
/—agencies for assistance. Cam-
paign contributions also help
Israel in its struggle to reset-
tle 400,000 Jewish refugees
from countries of distress, in-
cluding the former Soviet
Union.
• / In the weeks following the
effort, Federation's budgeting
;-- and planning divisions will
allocate Campaign dollars
based on how much money
has been raised.
Days of Decision aims to
, / reach everyone who has not
yet made a pledge so that suf-

/- ficient dollars will be
available. Volunteers will be
provided with the latest infor-
mation on the situations here
at home and overseas.

Dr. Claudette Keroub, chief
of ophthalmology at the Lin
Clinic in Haifa, Israel, recent-
, ly concluded a visit to the
United States and the Vision
• Institute of Michigan where
\, she continued her training in
Western ophthalmology
techniques. The training is
part of the ongoing
humanitarian, eye-care mis-
• sion known as Project Vision,
/- which was begun by Atlanta
• ophthalmologist Dr. Steven
• Kutner.
The purpose of the project is
to bring help in the form of
eye surgery to the backlog of
\ patients in the Israeli health-
care system, as well as train-
ing to Israeli ophthalmolo-
• gists who will carry on the
project.
In addition to observing
surgical techniques while at
the Vision Institute, Dr.
Keroub also had the oppor-
tunity to observe the efficient
workings of the general
ophthalmology end of the
practice.
