The topic to be discussed is titled, "Person to Person: According to Jewish Law." Rabbi Mark Cohn, director, Central East Region, Na- tional Conference of Syna- gogue Youth, will discuss "Character Assassination and Loshon flora"; Jerome Kaufman, instructor, Corn- munity Jewish High School, will explore "Why Be Good? The Challenge to Youth"; and Gidon Elad, associate direc- tor, American Zionist Youth Foundation, will cover "Israel — The Jewish Pressure Cooker." Honored at this event will be recipients of The Jewish News Mitzvah Heroes Award and past recipients of United Way Heart of Gold Award. They include Pearlena Bod- zin, Bessie Chase, Dorothy Goldberg, Fay Isackson, Mr. Neil Kalef, Dorothy Kauf- man, Jeff Lazar, Linda Lee, Barbara Nusbaum, Brian and David Ostreicher, Mr. Chuck Pearlstein, Rae Sharf- man, Ms.Rose Lynn Schlussel and Hope Silverman. The first program will be at Yad Ezra kosher food bank, 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. May 17. The next opportunity to volunteer will be May 31, when participants will visit the Jewish Home for Aged's Borman Hall and record oral histories of residents as well as socialize with them. The final program will be held June 14, when volunteers will help spruce up Simon House, a transition residence for HIV-positive mothers and children.
