sky and a feel-
ing of solidarity
for Israel brought some 9,000
to the Maple-Drake campus of
the Jewish Community
Center on Sunday to walk in
honor of the Jewish state's
44th anniversary.
The Walk culminated a
week of special Yom
Ha'atzma'ut programming.

Many of the walkers also
participated in the indoor
Israel street fair or visited
the Janice Charach Epstein
Museum/Gallery.
The previous night, a
cabaret featuring the Israeli
singing duo Dudaim was
featured.
The Independence Day
events also included two
competitions:
In the championship game
of the AZA basketball
league, the L'Chayim Matzo
Balls overcame a seven- Eli and Marla Weiss
point deficit late in the third
quarter to defeat Herzl AZA
of Windsor, 49-43.
In the Israel Quiz Bowl,
Temple Israel's B team won
the afternoon school divi-

Moses placed second and Mat
Shalom placed third. In the
day school division, Hillel
placed first, followed by
