In 1970, she • became assistant campaign manager for the Committee to Re-elect U.S. Senator Philip Hart. By the end of the decade she was cam- paign manager and ex- • ecutive assistant to U.S. Senator Donald Riegle. In 1979, she joined the Michigan Cancer Founda- • tion as an assistant to the president and was named director of community rela- • tions and development in 1981. She is in charge of the > annual fund, endowment fund and marketing for the organization. She has also implemented a number of special events including the Angels Ball, the Circle of Fellows and the MCF an- nual dinner. She is busy organizing the MCF 10th annual dinner to be held at the Palace May 9, honoring David and Doreen Hermelin. The first dinner > had 200 people and raised $40,000. This dinner will host 1,200 patrons and raise more than $500,000. She credits the success of the evening to the active par- ticipation of the Hermelins.
