Mossad Rumors
Rife In Norway

Copenhagen (JTA) - Per-
sistent rumors in Oslo that
the Israeli secret service, the
Mossad, is screening Pales-
tinian refugees for the
Norwegian government
have shocked public opinion
and are threatening political
careers.
The allegations cost a
senior police officer his job
last year and Norway's

justice minister, Mrs. Kari
Gjesteby, may be the next to
go, according to the daily
Aften Posten.
The latest rumor is that
Mossad agents fluent in
Arabic were asked by the
Norwegians to find out if
any Palestinians arriving in
Norway had a terrorist
background.
The Mossad is still active

in Oslo, Aften Posten re-
ported. It claimed that an
unnamed former official of
the Palestine Liberation
Organization, who moved to
Norway with his family, was
approached by Israeli agents
posing as Norwegians.
They are alleged to have
offered him either money, a
Norwegian passport or a
Danish refugee visa if he
returned to Algeria to spy on
the PLO for them.
The story says the Pales-
tinian also was asked to go
to Cyprus to kill a PLO
leader known as Abu Nasser
but turned down both propo-
sitions.
The Norwegian govern-
ment is now determined to
prevent any more covert ac-
tivity on its territory by
Middle East antagonists,
Aften Posten said.
It recalled that in 1973,
Mossad agents killed a
Moroccan citizen, Ahmed
Bouchiki, a waiter in the
Norwegian town of
Lillehammer whom they
mistook for a terrorist.
