Jerzy Exhibit At Rubiner Gallery Artist and teacher Richard Jerzy will mount a com- prehensive exhibition of oil paintings and mixed media at the Rubiner Gallery through April 29. The show will con- sist of 40 paintings of in- teriors, still life and gardens, as well as many figurative pieces. Richard Jerzy is a native Detroiter. He studied art at Center For Creative Studies and at Wayne State Universi- ty. Since 1966 he has been teaching painting at Center for Creative Studies. His work is in many individual and corporate collections in- cluding Mich Con, Kresge World Headquarters, Detroit Receiving Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Richard Jerzy lives and works in one of the historic homes in Indian Village. Many of the ideas for Mr. Jer- zy's paintings come from these intimate surroundings and objects, which he con- stantly rearranges to create new subjects. This wealth of visual stimulation gives him endless possibilities for his lush color and expressive painting. All of his work is done on site. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. The gallery is located at 7001 Orchard Lake Rd., Suite 430A. Pewabic Pottery Mounts Exhibit Pewabic Pottery will pre- sent an exhibit of work by Harrison McIntosh, May 1-June 20. An opening recep- tion will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 1; the public is invited. Mr. McIntosh taught at Otis Art Institute in the 1950s, and has concentrated on studio and design work since. Mr. McIntosh has continued to explore controlled oxida- tion stoneware firing, concen- trating his attention on the subtle variations of glazes. He is best known for sensuous, elegant vases and bowls decorated with sensitively ap- plied over-all designs. In recent years, he also has explored abstract ceramic forms combined with wood or metal. These poetic forms become pure mass, apparent- ly weightless and expressing a pardoxical tension in balance. Pewabic Pottery is located at 10125 East Jefferson, across from Waterworks Park. Visitor hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For information, please call Pewabic, 822-0954.
