Ohio, will speak on "Health
Alert: Conquests and
Celebrations" at the first
Recovery and Discovery
seminar 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
April 27 at Cranbrook House,
Bloomfield Hills.
The second seminar, 9:30
a.m.-3:30 p.m. April 28, will
feature Belleruth Naparstek,
a Cleveland Heights
psychotherapist and faculty
member at Case Western
Reserve University who
specializes in guided imagery
to help the body heal. She
will speak on "The Wonder of
Guided Imagery for Relaxa-
tion and Healing."
John Moenck, co-founder of
US TOO, a prostate cancer
survivor support group based
in Chicago, Ill., will be the
speaker at two Recovery and
Discovery, Inc. seminars 6-10
p.m. May 4-5 at the Dearborn
Inn, 20301 Oakwood Blvd.,
Dearborn.
Mr. Moenck will speak on
"Prostate Cancer: Secrets of
Survival: An Update." The
program also will feature
Joanne Zuroff, founder,
Recovery and Discovery, Inc.,
and rap sessions led by four
local facilitators.
The May 5 seminar will be
held at Embassy Suites,
28100 Franklin Road, South-
field.

Diana Aviv, co-director for
domestic concerns of the Na-
tional Jewish Community
Relations Advisory Council
will address domestic issues
of the 1992 presidential race
at the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit Wo-
men's Division 46th annual
meeting 9:30 a.m. May 13 at
Adat Shalom Synagogue. Ms.
Aviv is an associate executive
vice-chairman of NJCRAC,
the advisory coordinating
body of the Jewish communal
relations field helping iden-
tify and act on issues of con-
cern to the organized Jewish
community. Prior to joining
NJCRAC, she was director of
programs for the National
Council of Jewish Women.
A native of South Africa,
she was active in her Jewish
community's Zionist Federa-
tion and, through her Jewish
affiliations, worked to oppose
.apartheid.
Coffee and registration are
at 9:30 a.m.; luncheon will be
served and there is a fee.
Babysitting will be available
upon request by May 1.

sign language interpreter
also will be available.

Jeannie Weiner has been
nominated for a second term
as president of the Jewish
Community Council.
A slate of officers and in-
dividuals to fill board of direc-
tors seats was announced at
the Council's Delegate
Assembly.
Vice presidential can-

menberg, Howard I. Wallach
and Allen Zemmol. Andrew
Zack is nominated as
secretary, and Elaine Driker
as treasurer.

will host a concert especially
intended for former Soviet
Jewry 2 p.m. April 26 featur-
ing the Balalaika Orchestra
of Detroit at the Birmingham
Temple.

a special ceremony honoring
the synagogue's past
