Though Reform, Conser- vative and secular Jewish organizations have publicly advocated a woman's right to choose abortion, the Court received a friend-of-the-court brief from a leading Or- thodox Jewish advocacy group. The Agudath Israel of America has expressed op- position to abortion on de- mand. On the other side, the ACLU lead attorney on the case, Kathryn Kolbert, is Jewish and a native Detroiter. She is considered one of the nation's top legal advocates for abortion rights.
