Mass in the a La Mode.

There also is a serious side
to the composer's career.
More than 100 of Peter
Schickele's works have been
performed by orchestras and
chamber ber groups
throughout the world.
He also has composed for
TV's "Sesame Street," for
film (Silent Running) and for
the stage (Oh, Calcutta!), and
has arranged for Bob Dylan
and Joan Baez, among
others.
But his arrangement with
P.D.Q. is Mr. Schickele's
most notable. "It's a
natural," says Mr.
Schickele. "I always see the
funny side of things."
And P.D.Q. has no com-
plaints. After all, making
music was the easiest work
for the zoftig Bach.
There was only one other
job he would have preferred,
acknowledges Peter
Schickele. "Sofa-testing." ❑
