Feinstein recently sang to a
responsive audience at the Fox
Theatre, where his spirited numbers made
it clear he has a lot of fun performing
America's classic show tunes and telling cap-
tivating stories about the composers.
This was the singer/pianist's sixth ap-
pearance in metro Detroit in almost as many
years, and before the concert he talked about
his Motor City visits, Midwest background
and thriving career.
"Detroit is a place that is very much aware
of the musical scene," said the entertainer,
who spends about half the year on the road.
"People here are very appreciative of what
I call good music, the American popular
song."
Both familiar and unfamiliar numbers of
composers like George and Ira Gershwin,
Irving Berlin and Cole Porter are part of his
TIRAV ELIN MAN
repertoire, and although he has a core pro-
gram planned for each tour, he alters it ac-
cording to where he is performing and as he
senses the mood of the crowd.

House, but still talks of settling down.
