Cooking Program

The Jewish Newcomers
Club, which is supported by
Hadassah, is a newly-formed
group welcoming anyone who
has been in the area for fewer
than five years. It will meet 8
p.m. April 29 at Hadassah
House, 5030 Orchard Lke Rd.,
West Bloomfield.
The program will feature
Mimi Markofsky, who will
give a hands-on deomonstra-
tion on "Quick and Easy
Phyllo Thchniques." It will in-
clude tuna, spinach and
cheese and apple phyllo
dough creations. There is a
charge for the program and
guests are welcome. For reser-

The club also offers a varie-
ty of special interest groups
such as book discussions,

Ladies Auxiliary
Hosts Dinner

Charlotte Steinberg, na-
tional president of the Ladies
Auxiliary, Jewish War
Veterans, will be in the
Detroit area April 28-29. A
paid-up membership dinner
will be held in her honor 6
p.m. April 29 at the Jewish
War Veterans Memorial
Home.
Ms. Steinberg has been a
member of JWVA for 33
years. She was president of
the department of New York
in 1978-1979. She served two
national presidents as ex-
ecutive secretary, held two
elected positions on the ad-
visory board, budget and
finance committees.

Plans Meeting

Diane R. Krome and Ann
Dennehy will speak on
"Women as Medical Con-
sumers: What You Need to
Ask," at the next meeting of
the Business and Professional
Branch of National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater

Diane Krome is employed
by Providence Hospital as a
senior medical social worker,
outpatient care coordinator
oncology.
Ann Dennehy is a
registered nurse in the Breast
Imaging and Health Center
of Providence Hospital. She
performs physical evalua-
tions, counsels and instructs
women in breast self-
examination, breast cancer
detection and good health
practices.
