physician at National Bank of
Detroit . . . He and wife Bet-
ty recently returned from a
month's stay in Israel where
Joe volunteered daily with
the army medics . . .
Daughter Laurie Nosanchuk
Blum is assistant executive
director of the local Jewish
National Fund.
REUNION DEPT. . . .
50-Year anniversary by Cen-
tral High Class of 1942 is
Aug. 22 at Fairlane Manor in
Dearborn . . . Contact Harold
Elson, 661-9114; or Sara
Manson, 352-1468.
CONGRATS . . . to Nor-
man Fisher . . . on his 60th
birthday . . . celebrated with
party given by wife Faye for
40 friends in Boynton Beach,
Fla., where they now live .. .
Plus the 40 was a big surprise
for both dad and mom when
their four children from here-
abouts, Shelley Kash, Donna
Einhorn, Beverly Fisher and
Jackie Fisher, drove 24 hours
straight to be at pop's party
. . . It was the first time in
almost 13 years the six had
been together . . . a wonderful
birthday present for Norm.
ANNUAL DINNER-
DANCE by Knights of
Pythias, Detroit 55, is May 2
at Farina's on Coolidge .. .
with the Billy Rose group .. .
Call P.C. Max Rubin,
542-7756; or Harold Allen,
258-1923 . . . Ducats are $25.
CONGRATS . . . to Richard
Love . . . on his 70th birthday
. . . Surprise party was given
recently for 50 people by wife
Dorothy at Marvin's Marvel-
ous Mechanical Museum on
Orchard Lake Road . . . The
guests played pinball
machines and loved the
nostalgic games and items
that literally cram the place
. . . Harry Castle told owner
Marvin Yagoda that it re-
minded him of the games at
Eastwood Park, Edgewater
Park and others of yester-
years . . . A lot of fun.
HERE'S AN OWNER tak-
ing the proverbial bull by the
horn and finding out for
himself . . . Khalil Abbadi at
Pyramids Cafe in Southfield
Commons on Southfield
north of 12 Mile, has had the
place six years and always
wondered why, even with
training, his waitpersons
couldn't communicate the
menu with customers and
learn their likes and dislikes
. . . The last few weeks, Khalil
has been waiting on tables
himself to find out and it has
opened up a new world for
him . . . He enjoys learning
what customers want and do-
ing things to please them .. .
Other restaurant owners
should take note and perhaps
try waiting on tables

themselves . . . They may
learn a thing or three.
NO TRUTH whatsoever to
rumors that fashion show pro-
ducer Leah Marks is moving
to another city . . . Son
Harley, 17, attends West
Bloomfield High where he is
a highly-touted basketball
star, and doesn't graduate un-
til 1993.
BACK IN 1949, Dr. Milton
White, who hates fishing, was
quite frustrated when he
hooked a sea gull while doing
the rod-and-reel scene.
Today, add depression to his
frustration at not being able
to catch a human being with
power and influence to help
him gain funds and facilities
in his work . . . Milt firmly
believes he can isolate the
chemistry that keeps cancer
cells alive . . . which if true, is
a major discovery that
definitely bears looking into.
Milt is positive this can be
done but is held back because
he feels being relatively
unknown in the scientific
world, plus working in a
financialy-troubled and non-
prestigious hospital (North
Detroit General), such sup-
port is not readily available to
him.
He has been doing cancer
research and investigative
studies over 35 years and now
believes he is on the right
course.
Dr. Milt White's conviction
should definitely be followed
up on.
THE TWO 14-passenger
vans donated by Ford Motor
Co. to Variety, the Children's
Charity, for one year use have
been given to the Orchards
and Detroit Institute For
Children . . . Bill Wolf of
Newton Furniture is chair-
man of the Variety Sunshine
Coaches program.
GRAND OPENING of
Mariomax at its new Cross-
winds Mall location on Or-
chard Lake Road and Lone
Pine was what you'd expect
. . . A lot of pretty girls, pret-
ty guys, outlandish hairdos,
offbeat guys and gals dress
styles and big banter to and
fro the male and fem at-
tendees . . . Manuel's owner
Manuel Chavez came to greet
his new neighbors, Mario
Bitanti and Max Rieger, at
their place and later play host
with General Manager Roger
Petrie at his funspot in the
mall.
LOOKING BACK on col-
umns of yesteryears .. .
Sept. 25, 1971 . . . "Kenny
Newman, 9-year-old son of Dr.
Phil and Sally Newman, was
asked by grandfather Max
Sosin if he was a member of
the Democratic Party . . . Said
Kenny, 'I wasn't even in-
vited!' "
