tive menswear influence, with the best
looks having a feminine spin.
Adaria carries many haute couture
designers that favor the pantsuit. One
is Calvin Klein. Hudson's sees the
menswear influence through the
popularity of the classic navy and
white theme.

Waist Watch

Waistlines are getting attention this
spring. There are shaped-at-the-waist
jackets, fit-and-flare dresses, and cot-
ton shirts knotted under the bust to
reveal the midriff.
Waist-emphasizing clothes are not
the newest idea that ever came down
the pike. Nonetheless, it's been
popular in the past, and undoubted-
ly will prove so again. Which clothes
depends on the customers.
Anne Dinon of Adaria will be car-
rying both fitted and loose styles at
the waist. Lynne Bay, Don Thomas
Sporthaus buyer, notes the new
blouson jackets fitted at the waist.

Wild West

Dance with the wolves in outfits that
have everything but a six-shooter. You
can be a prairie princess in chambray
shirt and bandanna skirt. You can
head the roundup in cowgirl-style
fringed suede jeans or fringed leather
skirts.
But, Miss Kitty, that's only the start
of the bonanza. Pieces of the Wild
West are strewn across the fashion
landscape, from yoked cowboy shirts
to taffeta gingham, from studded
leather bustiers to gunslinger vests.
Not to mention ten-gallon hats and
cowboy boots.
Will Detroit buy it? "Absolutely,"
says Anne Dinon of Adaria, who will
stock fashionable western outfits this
spring. "I carry everything denim —
shirts, full skirts."

SLIP OF A DRESS: For Anne Klein, Louis
Dell'Olio creates a short and sexy
slipdress for evening, a variation of the
lingerie look that is so popular this
season. To compensate for their simple
chemise shape, slipdresses often
shimmer in all-over beading or sequins.
