Harlem Renaissance will be a
photographic exhibition
through April 11 at Book
Beat Gallery.
James Van DerZee's photo-
graphs were one of the few ex-
isting documents of a unique
and beautiful period in
American history. Mr. Van
DerZee, who was "discovered"
when he was 83 years old,
created not only a testament
to those who lived in Harlem,
but a significant body of work
which stands alongside
> masters of photography.
The Book Beat will present
a grouping of 32 photographs,
including 13 rare vintage
prints featuring children
(who were his favorite
subject).
