Jerusalem (JTA) — Jewish
settlers in the West Bank have
mounted a campaign to force convicted
terrorists freed in the May 20 prisoner
exchange to leave the territory.
Settlers in the Nablus area said
they had a list of all of the released
prisoners and were demanding the
cooperation of local village leaders to
get rid of them. Thousands of leaflets
were distributed in Hebron and
Ramallah Monday night, warning the
terrorists to leave. At least two were
forced from their homes and fled to
Jordan.
In the Israeli Arab village of Tira,
the heads of the local Arab councils
met to consider the threats by Rabbi
Meir Kahane, leader of the extremist
Kach party, to "liquidate" the released
terrorists if they refused to leave vol-
untarily.
Minister of Tourism Avraham
Sharir has begun canvassing his col-
leagues in a campaign to introduce the
death penalty for terrorists. Israeli
law does not provide the death penalty

and terrorists convicted of murder, in-
cluding many of those released in the
exchange, are given life sentences.
Two of the latter, convicted of
murdering David Rosenfeld at an ar-
cheological site at Herodion three
years ago, were literally driven from
their homes in the Bedouin village of
Faradis. They decided to leave after
