A Family Tradition of Dignity, Compassion and Service Three Generations of Caring - A Family Serving Families. In 1941, Ira Kaufman founded the chapel that today offers the most comprehensive funeral service to Metro Detroit's Jewish families. Ira's son, Herbert, joined his father at the chapel in 1947. Today, Herb, along with his daughter, Ilene Kaufman Techner, sons-in-law, David Techner and Otto Dube carry on the family tradition, and in fact, have expanded the services of the chapel. David Techner is a nationally renowned expert on the bereavement process, and is particularly respected for his work with grieving children. His wife, Ilene Kaufman Techner, created Aftercare Servicessi, to provide resources, referrals, and assistance to families coping with life after loss. Otto Dube is director of Pre-Need Services, offering pre-arranged funerals - an often-requested program. For three generations, The Ira Kaufman Chapel has been meeting the needs of our community. It's a tradition we plan to continue for generations to come. Herbert Kaufman David Techner Otto Dube Ilene Kaufman Techner Directors of Funerals 18325 W.
