Glass Exhibit
At Donna Jacobs
"Ancient Glass — 1992," the
13th annual exhibition, will
be on view at the Donna
Jacobs Gallery Ltd., April
2-May 2.
The collection of over 100
examples, including
millefiore, marbled, core-
formed, cast and blown glass,
originates from the Eastern
Mediterranean, Egypt, the
Near East and the Roman
Empire. About 2000 years of
early glass history will be evi-
dent in these pieces, which
date from the 5th century
B.C. to 6th century A.D.
The glass in this exhibition
has been selected, not mere-
ly for age and historical
significance, but for the quali-
ty of workmanship and beau-
ty (which varied greatly in
ancient times just as it does
today). Each piece is an
outstanding example of its
type.
Donna Jacobs Gallery is at
574 North Woodward Avenue,
Birmingham.

Sculpture Exhibit
At Xochipilli
Address
Xochipilli Gallery of Birm-
ingham will host a solo ex-
hibition of recent sculpture by
Susan Aaron-Taylor Feb. 29-
March 28. The show will open
with a reception for the artist
from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 29. The
public is welcome.
Aaron-Taylor's "Deity
Series" featured in this ex-
hibit continues the artist's
fascination with her dreams.
Beads, modeling compound
and found objects merge in
human, floral or animal
forms. These pieces suggest a
reverence for myths, nature
and ancient ceremonies.
A graduate of Wayne State
University, the artist com-
pleted graduate work at
Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Throughout her teaching
career, Ms. Aaron-Taylor has
shown her work frequently in
Michigan as well as in
California and Chicago.
Xochipilli Gallery is located
at 568 N. Woodward Avenue,
Birmingham. Gallery hours
are Tuesday through Satur-
day 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
