HERMAN SHUGOL, 67, of Southfield, died March 16. He is survived by his mother, Minnie; brother and sister-in- law, Joseph and Hermina of Grosse Ile. LOUIS SPITZER, 74, of Grosse Pointe Woods, died March 10. He is survived by his wife, Mae; son, Eric; sisters and brother-in-law, Lillian and Arthur Fisher, Sydelle Feinberg. MARION IRENE TOWER, 71, of West Bloomfield, died March 13. She leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Frieda and Gerald A. Weis- man of Woodland Hills, Calif.; nieces and nephews. ANNE ZUCKERMAN, 81, of Southfield, died March 17. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Sachse of Bloomfield Hills; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David Abrams, Emanuel and Renee Leonard, Helen Zuckerman; two grand- children. Mollie Leve, Active In Groups Mollie Zeitman Leve, of Southfield, died March 11. She was 97. Mrs. Leve was a past officer of Eastern Star, past recor- ding secretary of Home Relief Society, a member of the United Order of True Sisters and a member of Temple Beth El and its sisterhood. She leaves her daughter, Dr. Gertrude Leve Gordon of Southfield; son, Jack Charles; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. John Lebow, Boxing Champ John Hurley Lebow, of Far- mington Hills, died March 10. He was 89. Mr. Lebow was an automobile salesman and a member of Hannah Schloss Oldtimers, the Masons, the Shriners and Mosaic Lodge 530 F&AM. He was a past Golden Gloves champion under the name John Hurley, vice president of the Interna- tional Boxers Veteran Association, a boxing judge for 35 years, organizer of Ring 32 and a member of the Box- ing Commission of Michigan. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Max and Henrietta of Southfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Nussbaum, Rosella and Samuel Harvith of Farm- ington Hills, Jeanette and William Gottlieb of South- field. Rita Bookstein, Oak Park Teacher Rita Bookstein, of South- field, died March 12. She was 57. She became a teacher in 1956, serving 33 years in the Oak Park school system. She also taught for three years on American Air Force bases in Newfoundland, England and France. At the time of her death, she was on medical leave from Pepper School. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Gerald Penfil; nieces and nephews. Ruth Waxer, Longtime Volunteer Ruth Waxer, of Southfield, died March 9. A member of the Northwest Child Rescue, she worked at the Jewish Community Center Gift Shop and was a volunteer at the McDonnell Towers library and at the center. She leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and John Polan of West Bloom- field, Judy and Coleman Ver- nona of Farmington Hills; sisters, Minnie Levinson and Estelle Rosenbaum, both of Southfield; four grand- children; two great-grand- children. Zangwill Burnstine, Scoutmaster Zangwill W. Burnstine, of Southfield, died March 12. He was 92. Mr. Burnstine was a book- keeper in the wholesale food industry, a Mason, an aux- iliary policeman in Oak Park and president of Hannah Schloss Oldtimers. He was an Eagle Scout and the first Jewish scoutmaster in Detroit for Troop 23. He leaves his son, Murray of Melrose, Mass.; sister, Ceceille Levy of Southfield.
