Applications are now being
accepted from college
students by the Harry and
Sarah Laker Israel Youth
Scholarship Fund for an
academic year's study in
Israel.
This is the 16th year in
which a $2,500 cash award
will be given to the winning
student to attend Bar-Ilan,
Haifa, Tel Aviv, Ben-Gurion
or Hebrew universities.
lb qualify, the applicant
must be a resident of the
Metropolitan Detroit area,
currently attending a college
or university in the United
States and must have applied
to a school of higher learning
in Israel.
Applications are available
by calling Congregation Beth
Achim, 352-8670, or writing
to the Laker Scholarship
Fund, 21100 W. 12 Mile Road,
Southfield, MI 48076.
Deadline is May 8.

Israeli political commen-
tator Avner Regev will speak
on "Peace Process and Middle
East Reality" noon March 12
at Wayne State University
Hillel.
Mr. Regev writes political
commentary for the Israeli
newspaper Al HaMishmar.

Goodman Lecture
At Wayne State

Wayne State University
Law School will present the
10th annual I. Goodman
Cohen Lecture 4 p.m. March
1 12 Lecturer this year will be
Douglas H. Hillman, until
=1.- recently chief judge of the
United States District Court
for the Western District of
Michigan.
His lecture will be titled
"Trial Advocacy: A View from
the Bench."
The lecture series was
established by the family of
the late I. Goodman Cohen, a
Detroit trial attorney who
was active in the Michigan
Trial Lawyers Association.
The lecture is open to the
public.
