Mich. Conference
Awards Grants

Grants to promote young
leadership development, a
conference on women in
Jewish life and statewide
Jewish singles programming
were approved by the Litvak
Foundation Grant Committee
of the Michigan Jewish Con-
ference.
The Flint and Ann Arbor
Jewish communities received
a grant of up to $2,500 to
reach potential young adult
leaders. The program will in-
clude a series of six seminars,
attendance at the Council of
Jewish Federations General
Assembly and the AIPAC
Policy Conference and par-
ticipation in an Israel
mission.
B'nai B'rith Hillel at
Michigan State University
was awarded $2,500 to host a
conference to promote an
understanding of women's
issues in Jewish life. The
meetings will be open to the
public, while targeting com-
munity activists and
students.
A grant of up to $1,200 will
fund a small cities singles ski
weekend as the first event of
a statewide Jewish singles
network. Sponsored by the
Grand Rapids Jewish Com-
munity Fund and the Ann
Arbor Jewish Community
Center, the event will be
geared toward single young
adults in both cities and in
small communities across the
state.
The awards are part of a
Litvak Foundation grant to
the Michigan Jewish Con-
ference for programming
among member communities
outside the metropolitan
Detroit area.
The foundation encourages
Jewish activities and pro-
grams that reach beyond the
borders of a single communi-
ty in Michigan. Deadline to
apply for the next round of
grants is July 15. They will be
awarded Sept. 1.

Caryn Nessel at the Michigan
Jewish Conference Detroit of-
fice, 642-4260.
