For the first time, Bloom-
field Players veteran Kay-
Ellen Klein Murphy will be
on stage with her two
daughters, Jillian, 9, and
Dianna, 51/2. Mrs. Murphy
plays Yente, the matchmaker.
"The first play I was ever in
was Fiddler 25 years ago," she
said. "We performed it in
Hebrew at Adat Shalom
Synagogue when I was 12. I
can remember singing 'Sun-
rise, Sunset' in Hebrew."
Another town gossip, but
not quite as much as Yente, is
Avrahm, the bookseller,
played by attorney Ron Strote.
"This group is multi-ethnic,"
Mr. Strote said. "All of its
plays have been multi-
generational, transcending
all age groups, from retirees
to young kids."
Sheri Brown is years away
from having grandchildren,
but the mother of four (ages
7-16) will get an early oppor-
tunity to play grandma as
Tzeitel. For the Bloomfield
resident, it is literally a
"dream" role.
"The dead grandma comes
back in a dream to tell Tevye
and Golde that their
daughter, Tzeitel, should not
marry the butcher, Lazar
Wolf," she explained.
Playing Lazar Wolf is Larry
Miller, who has appeared in
four Bloomfield Players pro-
ductions, including its first
one, The Music Man, in which
he starred as Professor Henry
Hill.
"One nice thing about this
show is that I am once again
working with my daughter,
Joanna, and I'm hopefully
giving her some tradition
right now in the show," said
Dr. Miller, a dentist.
While her husband and
daughter are acting together,
Carole Miller performs off
stage as the show's producer.
"I am basically a liaison be-
tween the executive producer
and the cast," said Mrs.
Miller, who was previously co-
producer for Bloomfield
Players' South Pacific and
assistant producer for The

Wiz.
Directing her third Fiddler
show is Bloomfield resident
Kathi Bush, a veteran of hun-
dreds of local productions. She
said, "This is probably one of
the best written shows there
is because you have humor,
you have pathos, and you
have great music."
Perhaps the show's pianist,
Delma Reid, a resident of
Lathrup Village, sums it up
best. Ms. Reid is getting her
first taste of the Bloomfield
Players and Fiddler.
"As a black American, Fid-
dler represents a new area of
music for me, and I'm glad to
be part of it." El
