This year's 77th annual
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah Din-
ner, scheduled for March 15
at the Rennaisance Center's
Westin Hotel in Detroit, will
celebrate the relocation of two
of its divisions to a new facili-
ty in Oak Park. Located on
Church and Ten Mile Road, at
the site of the former B'nai
Moshe synagogue, the new
campus houses both the Sal-
ly Allan Alexander Beth
Jacob School, and the Abner
Wolf/Irwin I. Cohn Childhood
Development Center.
Located in the Sally Allan
Alexander Beth Jacob
building is the Moses M.
Fisher High School Pavilion,
dedicated by their sons, the
late Kenneth and Sydney.
The Fisher family, including
David Pollack, and his wife,
Blanche, daughter of the late
Rabbi Moses Fisher, were ma-
jor influences in the suc-
cessful ,conversion of the
former B'nai Moshe building.
It is due to their assistance
that the idea of acquiring the
B'nai Moshe building became
a working possibility.
Norman Allan has been a
major benefactor in the
growth of the Yeshiva. It was
he who solidified the idea of
leasing the B'nai Moshe
synagogue by orchestrating
the affairs of the Yeshiva with
those of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, Neighborhood
Project, and the JPM Jewish
Community Center. It was he
who secured what was hailed
by the Detroit News as "a
move that absolutely preserv-
ed Jewish solidarity in the
Ten Mile corridor of Oak Park
and Southfield." Mr. Allan,
who has been a devoted friend
of the Yeshiva Beth Yehudah
for over two decades, purchas-
ed the original Sally Allan
Alexander Beth Jacob
building, named after his
daughter, in Birmingham 15
years ago. As the acquisition
of the B'nai Moshe building
became a possibility, Mr.
Allan once again seized the
opportunity to make those
vital moves that made the
Ten Mile facility a reality. As
Mr. Allan secured the new
campus, his friend Alex Salts-
man stepped in to add to the
momentum.
At this year's dinner, the
'Ibrah Pioneer Award, given
in recognition of his sense of
vision and dedication to the
Yeshiva, will be presented to
Mr. Saltsman. Mr. Saltsman,
also created the Lillian Salts-
man Childhood Enrichment
Center in memory of his wife,
the late Lillian Saltsman.

Also being honored at the
dinner is Dr. Phillip Fried-
man. He will receive the Rab-
bi Leizer Levin Memorial
Award. Dr. Friedman, Chief of
Neurosurgery at Sinai
Hospital, has educated his
own children in the Yeshiva
Beth Yehudah's school
system. Given in recognition
of his community leadership,
Dr. Friedman has earned this
award due to his involvement
in the affairs of the Yeshiva.
The dinner will celebrate
the successful completion of
the campaign for the acquisi-
tion, reconstruction, and en-
dowment of its new facility.
For further information, or to
reserve seats, call 557-6750.
