The Sisterhood of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will
present a program of Sephar-
di music featuring Cantor
Chaim Najman and Raquel
Gershon, 11:30 a.m. March 9
at the Fleischman Residence
in West Bloomfield. Carole
Lasser will accompany at the
piano.
The program will com-
memorate 500 years of Jewish
exile from Spain and will con-
sist of Ladino and Hebrew
selections.
Raquel Pomerantz Gershon
is a graduate of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America and Columbia
University. She holds degrees
in Jewish education, sacred
Jewish music, and psychology,
as well as a master's degree
in special education.
Raquel has served as a
High Holiday cantor and has
sung with several choirs. She
also has performed Jewish
folk music in both the U.S.
and Israel.
The Sisterhood meeting
and brunch will precede the
program. There is a charge.

`Rothschilds'
The Broadway hit The
Rothschilds will be at the
Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield, starring
Bernie Dean, 8 p.m. Feb. 29.
The musical covers the
history of Western Europe
over the past 150 years with
the rise of the Rothschild clan
from humble beginning to
wealth and power.
