Exhibit Set
James Spearman will pre-
sent a one-man art exhibit in
the Oak Park Library in
honor of Black History Month
through March. A native
Detroiter, Mr. Spearman will
exhibit 26 works, both
original paintings and
lithographs.
A major theme in Mr.
Spearman's art is the develop-
ment of form and color related
to African-Americans and the
presentation of a positive
black image in regards to the
present and past cultural
heritage of African-
Americans. Included in the
show are several works depic-
ting African themes and
several depicting African-
American themes.
A meet-the-artist reception
has been scheduled for 4-8:30
p.m. Feb. 23; the public is in-
vited to attend, meet Mr.
Spearman and discuss his
work.
The Oak Park Library is
located at 14200 Oak park
Boulevard. Exhibition hours
are Monday-Thursday, 10
a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
and Sundays 1-5. For informa-

A single theme unites these
works: Near Eastern gardens
during the warm, lazy days of
