At Kol Ami

in Announcing
that the 1992

Temple Kol Ami will hold
its annual Jewish Music
Season Service 8 p.m. Feb. 14
at the temple. In commemora-
tion of the 500th anniversary
of the expulsion of the Jews
from Spain, music of the
Sephardim will be featured:
works by Marcello, Rossi,
Algazi, and pieces based on
folk melodies. The music will
be performed by the Temple
Choir, with cantorial solos
sung by Susan Greener;
Susan Shevitz, flutist, and
Nathalie Conrad, pianist.
The service will include
"Sermon in Song," a program
of songs in Ladino and
Hebrew sung by Shirley
Behar. Mrs. Behar, whose
family came from Turkey, is
the president of the Detroit
Sephardic Community.
An Oneg Shabbat will
follow the service.

tor of the Ecumenical In-
stitute for Jewish-Christian
Studies, will be the speaker
when the Brotherhood of
Temple Beth El marks
Brotherhood Shabbat 8 p.m.
Feb. 21.
Interim minister of Com-
munity Congregational
Church, Lathrup Village, the
Reverend Lyons is pastor
emeritus of Pine Hill Con-
gregational Church in West
Bloomfield. He also is a
visiting lecturer at Michigan
State University's James
Madison college.
His topic will be "Moving
Beyond Friendly Smiles."
The Brotherhood Shabbat
service will be preceded by a
dinner. There is a charge for

Shaarey Zedek
Sponsors Tour

Congregation Shaarey Ze-
dek's Cultural Commission
will sponsor a cultural mis-
sion to Israel July 14-28.
The tour, which will be led
by Cantor and Mrs. Chaim
Najman, will offer two weeks
of sightseeing of Israel's main
attractions, visits to galleries
and museums, as well as at-
tendance at concerts, theatre
and ballet.
The total cost of $2,599 per
person includes air fare from
Detroit, five star hotel accom-
modations, all transfers and
entrance to all museums and
concerts.
