1985, then he went 24-0 with
the Roosevelt boys in 1985-86.
For the next two seasons,
Golding coached the Oak
Park girls to 10-10 and 17-3
marks and he was the junior
varsity and assistant varsity
boys coach at Birmingham
Seaholm. It also was during
those years with the girls that
Golding began realizing how
important it was to try to
secure scholarships for his
players.
He returned to the Oak
Park boys team for the
1988-89 campaign and went
13-10. The Knights were 13-8
the next year. They finished
18-6 last season, advancing to
the regional finals in the
Class B tournament before
losing to eventual state cham-
pion Detroit Country Day.
They were 8-6 nearing the
halfway point of the current
season.
Golding, a guard, played at
Detroit Mumford High School
and Wayne State University
with a stint in the JCC Team
Varsity League.
He graduated from Wayne
State in 1967 with a Bachelor
of Science degree. The
diploma marked the end of
his college days, but the
beginning of his work in the
classroom of life. ❑

Half-Marathon
Set For W.B.

The West Bloomfield Half
Marathon will be held 12:30
p.m. April 26. Half-marathon
officials have added a 5K run
to the day's events. The 5K
begins immediately following
the start of the
half-marathon.
Both races give runners of
all abilities a chance to par-
ticipate in a competitive
event. Each race runs
through well marked residen-
tial streets of West Bloom-
field.
The half-marathon is a TAC
certified and sanctioned race.
The 5K Run is a fast out and
back event.
The half marathon and the
5K run are cosponsored by
the West Bloomfield Parks
and Recreation and Henry
Ford Medical Center - West
Bloomfield. All entrants will
receive T-shirts. All finishers
will receive commemorative
key chains. Category winners
will receive an award.
The entry fees, due by April
17, will increase after that
date through race day.
For an entry form, send a
self-addressed stamped
envelope to West Bloomfield
Parks and Recreation, 3325
Middlebelt Road, West
Bloomfield, Mich. 48323.
