Midrasha Co-Sponsors
New Class Offerings

The Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies, a division of
the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion, will co-sponsor courses •
with the following syna-
gogues and temples in
February for the winter/
spring semester.
The Midrasha and the Hun-
tington Woods Minyan will of-
fer a course titled "Current
Issues in Jewish Life." It will
be taught by Rabbi David
Shepherd of the Huntington
Woods Minyan on Tuesdays,
7:30-8:30 p.m., for six weeks
beginning Feb. 11 at the Bur-
ton Elementary School,
26315 Scotia, Huntington
Woods.
The Midrasha and Con-
gregation Beth Shalom will
offer a course titled "Stay
Cool in Shul: Understanding
and Becoming Comfortable
with the Saturday Morning
Services." It will be held 8-9
p.m. Thursdays for four weeks
beginning Feb. 27. The in-
structor will be Dr. Joe Lewis,
cantor of the High Holiday
Services of the JPM Jewish
Community Center. This

course will meet at Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom.

The Midrasha and Temple
Emanu-El will offer two
courses which will meet for
six weeks on Thursdays
beginning Feb. 27. "You Shall
Teach Them to Your
Children," a course designed
for students to develop skills
to become an effective teacher
of Jewish children will be
taught by Mr. Ira J. Wise,
educator at Temple Emanu-
El, and Ms. Harlene Appel-
man, director of JEFF
(Jewish Experiences for
Families). It will meet 7-8
p.m. "Talmud with Training
Wheels" also will be taught
by Mr. Wise. In this course
students will learn what the
Talmud has to say and how it
might add meaning or under-
standing to one's life. It will
meet 8-9 p.m. Both courses
will meet at Temple
Emanu-El.
All courses are open to the
community. There is a charge.
