Is Program Topic
Adat Shalom Synagogue
will offer a "Focus on the
Family" series 7:30 p.m. Feb.
5 and 12 at the synagogue.
The topic for the Feb. 5 pro-
gram is "The Mommy Track:
Fact or Faction." Carol Fogel
will lead a panel who will pre-
sent the options and obstacles
women encounter when they
combine motherhood and a
career. Carol is a Family Life
Educator who has led support
groups for children and adults
on a wide range of topics. She
co-chairs the National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women SPACE
Program for Changing
Families.
On Feb. 12 Judith Shewach-
Stevenson will present a pro-
gram on "Boomerang
Babies" and will offer an
analysis of the trend in many
families where adult children
return home to live with their
parents. Ms. Shewach-
Stevenson has done extensive
research on the family life cy-
cle and is a clinical social
worker.
Refreshments will be serv-
ed. There is no charge.

HIAS Offers
Scholarships
New York HIAS, the
Hebrew Immigrant Aid Socie-
ty, is inviting applications for
its 1992 Scholarship Awards.
Those eligible to apply are
HIAS-assisted refugees and
their children who im-
migrated to the United States
after 1977.
The awards are intended for
students who plan to pursue
post-secondary education; ap-
plicants must demonstrate at
least one year's attendance in
an American high school or
college. The 1992 HIAS
Scholarship Awards will
range from $500 to $2,500.
Applications and informa-
tion may be obtained by
writing to HIAS Scholarship
Awards, 333 Seventh Avenue,
New York, NY 10001-5004.
No phone calls will be ac-
cepted. Completed applica-
tions should be returned to
