JPI Plans
Flex Program

The Jewish Parents In-
stitute, an affiliate of the
Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center will begin a
Flex program in January.
Students will be given the
opportunity to select elective
courses with Jewish themes
for 45 minutes for eight suc-
cessive weeks beginning Jan.
26. Students can choose
courses such as conversa-
tional Hebrew, Jewish cook-
ing, literature and musical
drama, genealogy and
newspaper.
Courses will be taught by
JPI teachers, teens and
parents.

LOCAL NEWS

Dance Classes
At Maple-Drake

The "Dance Center" of the
Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center is adding
classes.
Karen Pewtress will teach
ballet, jazz and creative dance
after 4 p.m. to children of all
age groups. Ms. Pewtress also
teaches modern, jazz and
ballet to adults.
Denise Welling will con-
tinue teaching pre-school
dance as well as tap to
children and adults.
Harriet Berg will instruct
the Festival Dancers.
New ballroom dance, begin-
ner and intermediate classes
are starting.
For the student interested
in exotic dance, "Fatina" will
teach belly dancing.
All the above classes will
start the first week in March.
The YO-DANCE Street
Dance classes, beginning and
intermediate, for pre-teens
and teens will start the first
Monday in February.
Private and semi-private
dance lessons for all classes
are available, upon request.
