Young Adult Brunch
Hosts Two Immigrants

Two immigrants — one
from Ethiopia and the other
from the former Soviet Union
— will be featured at an
Allied Jewish Campaign
report meeting and a Young
Adult Division brunch 9:30
a.m. Feb. 9 at the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit building.
The report meeting will
feature a report on local needs
in light of the economic situa-
tion. For the first time this
year, members of the Cam-
paign Management Commit-
tee will report on the status
of their divisions.
The gathering is open to all
volunteers and leaders in the
Campaign. For information,
call the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign office, 642-4260, ext.
245.
YAD's 10:30 a.m. brunch is
open to all young adults in

the Detroit community. There
is a charge for the brunch. For
infdrmation, call Rick
Krosnick at the YAD office,
642-4260, ext. 249.
Shay Samuel Simami and
Michael Lidsky will tell
about their resettlement in
Israel, made possible with the
assistance of the Allied
Jewish Campaign and Opera-
tion Exodus.
Mr. Shay, a translator for
new Ethiopian immigrants at
the Shalom Hotel in
Jerusalem, was a teacher in
his village in Ethiopia before
immigrating to Israel. Mr.
Lidsky, a freelance
photographer, came to Israel
from Kiev, Ukraine, in
September 1990.
The two immigrants are
part of a group of 40 Ethio-
pian and Soviet immigrants
on a mission of gratitude.
