Labor Zionist
Israel Program

The World Labor Zionist
Organization together with
Labor Zionist Alliance
Branch 960 of Detroit has ar-
ranged a special 11-day
political tour of Israel. It will
depart from Detroit on July 6,
1992, returning on July 16.
Although the program is
directed toward people under
age 50, the tour is open to all
members of the Jewish
community.
With a densely packed pro-
gram of touring Israel and
meeting with political
leaders, this is not your usual
summer tour of Israel. The
program will include
meetings with Knesset
members, a visit to the West
Bank, including settlements
in the Jordan Valley and a
Palestinian refugee camp,
discussions about religious
pluralism, electoral reform,
and the economy in Israel,
meeting with Soviet and
Ethiopian olim and a
weekend encounter at a Kib-
butz. The group will meet
with Haim Ramon, head of
the Labor Party Faction in
Knesset, and will be address-
ed by Ora Namir, chair of the
Social Affairs and Welfare
committee of the Knesset and
also a candidate to head the
Labor Party.
Total cost of the tour is
$1,950; however, subsidies
and a reduction in fare from
this amount are possible,
depending upon the total
subscription for the tour. Non-
members of LZA must also
pay $35 LZA dues to join the
tour. The fee includes airfare
from Detroit ($150 discount if
joining the tour in New York),
double occupancy, three star
accommodations, with
breakfast, and at least four
dinner meals, plus transpor-
tation, a guide, and all pro-
gram costs.
Registration materials and
applications for subsidies can
be obtained from the trip
organizer, Dr. Jeffrey L. Ram,
10115 Kingston, Huntington
Woods, MI 48070, 545-8964.
Registration for the tour costs
$100 (refundable), due by
March 1 with the balance
($1,850, minus any subsidies
and discounts) due by May. 1.
